The Moroccan company BluePearl Seeds has announced the completion of its first certified seed production campaign, with seeds “developed, multiplied, and produced in Morocco,” fully traceable and compliant with current regulations.
Specializing in research, varietal selection, and seed production for the legal cannabis sector, the company operates a facility in Derdara, in the province of Chefchaouen.
Founded by Houda El Arroussi in partnership with James Mitton, BluePearl Seeds has been conducting a program since 2024 aimed at “identifying the highest-performing varieties for Moroccan farmers and regulated markets.”
Its founders explain that the initiative intends to “contribute to the emergence of a Moroccan seed industry capable of meeting domestic demand while developing export potential to international markets.”
The project is being carried out under the supervision of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities (ANRAC) and the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA). It targets farmers, cooperatives, and licensed operators using certified seeds.
The company states that the initiative aims to reduce Morocco’s dependence on imported seeds while creating “new economic opportunities” in the regions concerned.
