Route 420, the canna-tourism initiative launched by Rolling Stoner, has soft-launched an interactive app, Smoke Signals. This is to enable people to upload points of interest on the Route 420 map, the country’s first dedicated travel network for the cannabis traveller experience.

The African Cannabis Museum is to be launched in Cape Town towards the end of the year to refect the plant’s role in the country’s heritage. As part of its launch, the organizers, who are deliberately keeping their identities secret, have launched a national logo design competition with a ten grand prize for the winner.
Canada is a global leader in cannabis but it is not doing enough to leverage this reputation into a meaningful tourism strategy. The main problem is that current regulations focus on restricting public access, whereas a canna-tourism approach would mean flipping that idea on its head.
Academic Dr Jean Manaliyo is to present his research findings on the potential for cannabis tourism in North West Province at a conference hosted by the University of Algarve in Portugal this weekend. The concept, if legalized, could have a significant impact on local economies, but there is still a concern among communities that encouraging cannabis tourism will lead to more crime.
