MG Health and Lucan Labs Lift Lesotho’s Export Game with Poland Providing EU GMP Certification

Lesotho’s main cannabis exporter MG Health and Maseru-based LuCan Labs are at the forefront of Lesotho’s bid to return to world cannabis markets after languishing in the doldrums over the past few years. The two companies are looking forward to opening new export markets, both having been awarded EU GMP certification via Polish authorities.

Lesotho’s MG Health has officially received European certification that covers not only the export of cannabis flower but finished product oil formulations and flos. The company received the EU GMP Part 1 certification from Poland and allows direct export into that country’s fast growing medical cannabis market.

MG Health has been awarded EU GMP Part I certification from the Government Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices (GIF) in Poland.

The company posted on Linked In that:

“From our facility in the pristine Maluti Mountains of Lesotho,(pictured here) this achievement now enables direct supply into Poland in addition to our existing exports to Germany, the UK, Australia and Czech Republic. This milestone marks the completion of our full GMP accreditation suite (EU GMP Parts I & II and TGA GMP) positioning MG Health among a handful of globally certified, vertically integrated producers capable of delivering pharmaceutical-grade medicines from plant to patient.”

MG Health is the only Lesotho company exporting to Poland where demand for medical cannabis has seen the country’s import limit raised to 20 tons from this year. This is because of the rapid expansion of the Polish medical cannabis market where 2024 sales were significantly higher than previous years.

MG Health is also the only Lesotho company exporting to Australia where it send its last shipment of CBD flower in September this year,

Also in Lesotho, LuCan Laboratories in Maseru has independently received certification for EU GMP analytical testing.

The company posted on Linked In:

“We are incredibly excited to share with the Cannabis Industry that LuCan Laboratories has officially received EU GMP Certification for chemistry testing of Cannabis Flower and Oil as well as microbiological testing for Cannabis Flower from the Government Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices (GIF) in Poland.

Customers queried! LuCan listened! And here we are, an EU-GMP certified laboratory for the testing of Cannabis Flower and Oils. We offer a One-Stop-Shop for API testing and testing of contaminants in Cannabis flower, all done on site in the laboratory based in Maseru, Lesotho.

LuCan Laboratories retains its ISO/IEC 17025:2017(E) accreditation (Analytical Chemistry Testing of Cannabis flower and Cannabis products, 2022 and Microbiology Testing of Cannabis flower, 2024). Together with EU-GMP certification, LuCan offers producers of medicinal cannabis potency and contaminants results of the highest scientific integrity for maximum patient safety. We are ready to help customers with smooth access to the European market for pharmaceutical-grade medical Cannabis.”
