BudBox has taken the private cannabis club movement one step further to maturity with its sponsorship of the 2026 Cannabis Expo.
This signifies the growing confidence of the self-compliant private cannabis club movement, which to date has been stuck beyond regulatory reach in the cannabis retail ‘Grey Zone’ .
Gauteng-based BudBox has 23 outlets, notably Randpark Ridge, Rivonia Village Shopping Centre, and Greenside. It has plans to expand into KwaZulu Natal. It describes itself as “ a locally-founded, exclusive private members only club that brings together a diverse community of adult members with access to a carefully curated range of premium cannabis services.”
This year’s Cannabis Expo will again be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 29 to 30 May, despite initial indications that it may move to Cape Town. The lifestyle event weekend is expected to attract significant foot traffic and high-value engagement across multiple aligned audiences.
“This collaboration marks an important moment for the sector, as we are committed to demonstrating how community-driven models can contribute positively to the industry’s development” says BudBox Brand and Marketing Director Nicole Meyer.
“The Cannabis Expo provides a credible platform for informed dialogue around responsible cannabis participation”.
Cannabis Expo director Silas Howarth agrees: “This partnership reflects the maturity of South Africa’s cannabis ecosystem. Private member clubs are an important part of the responsible adult-use landscape, and BudBox represents a professional, structured approach that aligns with our focus on education, compliance and industry growth.”
Now in its 2026 edition, The Cannabis Expo remains Africa’s leading cannabis-focused event, bringing together industry stakeholders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, medical professionals, lifestyle brands and adult consumers under one roof. The event continues to serve as a platform for education, innovation and responsible market expansion.
