Cheeba Africa has announced it will hold a two day ‘Cannabis and Hemp Summit’ at the Cannabis Expo to bring stakeholders together to network, upskill and develop their business concepts. It will also provide a forum for the industry to discuss how best to deal with Government in the imminent ‘stakeholder discussons’ on cannabis policy.

The Cannabis and Hemp Summit on 30 and 31 May 2025 will be the business highlight of this year’s Cannabis Expo. The Cheeba Africa event comes at a critical time when their appears to be a real shift underway in the cannabis industry with more money flowing into the sector despite the lack of clear regulations. The summit will not only be a platform for business people to connect, upskill and share ideas, but will also provide an opportunity for private sector stakeholders to regroup and discuss a way forward having recently forced a major concession out of Government in rescinding the ill-advised hemp foodstuff ban.

It’s understood that the Department of Trade and Industry will send a delegation to the Summit and speakers from Government have been invited to participate.

Cheeba director Linda Siboto says over 50 speakers will take part in the event which will also coincide with an International Cannabis Symposium.

Siboto says: “Cannabis and hemp hold massive potential to drive inclusive economic growth and job creation across Africa. But to unlock that, we need to connect the right people, ideas and opportunities. The Summit is about doing exactly that — creating a space where real business happens, where partnerships are born, and where the foundations for a sustainable, job-rich industry are laid”.

Among the topics that will be covered over the two days are:

  • The Journey to Financing, Building and Opening a Medical Cannabis Facility

  • Key Strategies for Scaling Industrial Hemp Cultivation

  • Establishing Cannabis Club Supply Chains & Operational Best Practice

  • Understanding Industrial Hemp Machinery

  • Rules of Engagement for the International Offtake Market
